The Advisory Team

As members of the advisory team we primarily support and monitor the implementation of diocesan policies relating to Religious Education, Catholic Life and Prayer and Liturgy in schools and colleges. We ensure high standards in the teaching of Religious Education, through providing support for dynamic subject leadership, developing theological literacy and improving pedagogy.

We ensure staff and governors are fully aware of diocesan expectations and responsibilities in relation to Religious Education, Catholic Life and Prayer and Liturgy. We assist in the provision of high quality in-service training and effective professional development for schools and colleges and provide, as directed, advice to Headteachers and governing bodies on issues relating to leadership and management.

We use the Catholic School Inspection framework as the key guidance for on-going support and developmental work. We work closely with schools to prepare for Catholic School Inspection through addressing any recommendations from previous inspections, supporting with the completion of the Catholic Self Evaluation Document as well as providing bespoke support and in-service for schools as requested. Post inspection, we work with schools to address areas identified for development and encourage a continuous process of self-evaluation and improvement.

We regularly attend deanery meetings with Headteachers and RE subject leaders, providing diocesan updates as well as specific guidance in relation to Religious Education, Catholic Life and Prayer and Liturgy including chaplaincy provision. We provide resources and support materials relating to Religious Education but also the wider mission and life of the Church within our schools, including Relationships and Sex Education. We constantly seek to promote teaching within our diocesan network of schools and actively engage in opportunities to market our schools within teaching networks.
